Agreeing to these terms

These terms cover your use of the Cornerstone Sierra Madre Concrete website and any work we quote or do for you. By using the site, calling us or booking a job, you agree to them, so please don't use the site if you don't.

Your written estimate or contract for a job takes priority over these terms wherever the two differ, because that document describes your actual job. You can get back to our services anytime from the home page.

The work we do

We're a concrete contractor in Sierra Madre, CA, fully licensed and insured. We build driveways, patios, sidewalks, garage floors, steps, pool decks, retaining walls, footings and foundations, and we also do stamped and decorative concrete, foundation raising and concrete cutting. You can read more about who we are on our About page.

What this site says about a service is general. The exact work on your job, including what we dig out, how we build the base, how thick the slab is and what finish it gets, is what's written in your estimate.

Estimates and pricing

Estimates are free and given on site, and you're under no obligation to accept one. Each one covers the scope, materials and price we expect from what we can see before any digging starts, and it holds for the period written on it.

Sometimes the ground tells us something new once it's open, like soft or wet subgrade, which is the soil the slab sits on, or buried roots or old concrete. When that happens we stop, show you what we found and agree on any change in price or scope with you in writing before we go on. Changes you ask for after work starts are handled the same way.

Scheduling, weather and cancellation

When you book, we'll give you a start date and how long we expect the job to take. Dates can move, mostly because of weather, since we won't pour in rain or in conditions that would leave a weak surface, and a delay for that reason isn't a breach of these terms.

Fresh concrete also needs time to cure, which is the wait while it hardens and gains strength, before you walk on it and longer before you drive on it. We'll tell you the wait for your slab, and keeping off it until then is your part of getting a slab that lasts.

If you need to cancel or reschedule, call us as early as you can. If you cancel after we've ordered material or started work, you may be charged for material, delivery and labor already spent, as your contract sets out. This doesn't change any right to cancel that California law gives you.

Payment

Your contract sets out any deposit and when each payment is due, and any deposit we ask for stays within the limits California law sets. Final payment is due when the work described in the contract is complete.

If a payment is late, we may pause work until it's settled, and we'll tell you before we do.

Our guarantee and what concrete can't promise

Every job comes with our satisfaction guarantee, and any written warranty in your contract spells out exactly what's covered and for how long. If something we built isn't right, tell us and we'll come look.

Concrete is a natural material, so some things are normal and not defects. These include hairline cracks, especially along control joints, which are the lines we cut so the slab cracks there instead of at random, small color and texture differences between pours, and light surface marks from weather while the slab cures.

Our guarantee doesn't cover damage from things outside our work, such as tree roots, ground movement, loads the slab wasn't built to carry, drainage changes made after we leave, or skipping the curing and care steps we give you. Apart from what's written in your contract, the information on this website is provided as is.

Limits on our liability

To the extent California law allows, our total liability for any claim tied to a job is limited to what you paid us for that job. We aren't liable for indirect or follow-on losses, or for decisions made on information from this website alone without an on-site estimate.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't let a business limit, including liability for our own negligence.

If we disagree about a job

Start by calling us at (626) 828-0332 or reaching us through our Contact page, because most problems get settled once we're standing on the slab together. If we still can't agree, we'll both try mediation before going to court, though either of us can still use small claims court.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any court case about them or about our work will be heard in the courts of Los Angeles County.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time and post the new version on this page. The version in place when you sign your contract is the one that applies to your job.
